Hello,
That's only light surface rust, easily fixable....and it comes pre-slamed for your driving pleasure on those classic cobble stone roads of Europe.

In the classifieds right now there are several L-Jet AFMs bolted onto air cleaners for $60. The core charge for an AFM is more than double that, so if you’re looking to buy a rebuilt AFM and don’t want to part with yours, search the classifieds for “air cleaner” and scroll.

This looks like a pretty complete FI set on eBay

I actually inherited my 78 Transporter 2.0 FI, and it didnt cost me anything...until I found out that it needs a complete rebuild, which is probably the reason I inherited it! When taking off the valve cover, I found a pushrod that had fallen out of the rocker arm, and it was bent, apparently on forcefully contacting the cylinder head, which caused an oil leak. No.1 piston was gouged after smashing a valve which I assume had stuck? Piston rings were all worn (with one actually broken!) And my Grandpa thought the only issue was a faulty injector.Fuel line had rusted through after sitting in the field for 15 years. Frame is pretty straight though, and very little rust except in the battery tray, which needs to be replaced. Other than those issues, I think it was an okay deal.

Funny how it's "just a small fuel issue" and you find out it needs a full rebuild...
Congrats on the Bus! Sounds like a good project! _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI

Not sure if this qualifies as a “ good deal”.
2L GD long block
2L GE case and crank only
4 mixed heads
Pistons and jugs
Box of tins and AFM
And a free case of beer.
$400
I need to verify the numbers, but apparantely one set of heads and the p&c’s were from a 914. Theyre all 94 mm. I passed up on a 2L GA case (914). _________________ You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. $10,000 Rare find! 1968 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile also known as the “Westy”. This is a spacious, economical vehicle suitable for weekend camping trips and vacations spent in the mountains or along ice-cold trout-filled streams. The person we purchased it from was using it as a mobile coffee stand at street fairs.
This cool van needs a little TLC to get into shape. We thought we would have the time to fix it up but have realized that it keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list. The van has a new starter but we were not able to start it yet due to the key breaking off in the ignition. I just received the new ignition tumbler with new keys last week but have not had the time to install it.
If you are interested please contact me and we can schedule a time to meet in person. Located in Auburn WA. Cash only sale. |

didnt have any plans yet for the ‘72 tintop i just dragged home, but can now see a complete interior set-up in it.

Wow good find.
And good on the guy that had the foresight to save it some years ago.
Is that cream color vinyl a recover or was it used one year? Seems like 1968-72 all used the mustard colored stuff, 73 was different? 74,75 completely different with plaids. Where does cream fit in? _________________ Al Brase
