if you're talking about the stuff gowesty sprays on the bottoms of their vans (and around t he wheelwells) it's basically the same stuff used for spray on bedliners. There's a company called Line-x that has some franchises where you can have it done professionally. Runs about $750 in these parts (so cal.) |

Couldn't ya do it yourself with something from Home Depot? I think I would Pressure or Steam the dirt, oil, grease, etc... Let it dry for a day.. Protect the outer paint and with the wheels off... start spraying. _________________ "If someone believes in you, well that is just the greatest thing in life..."

The rubber fender flares that cam e on 16" Syncro? If you can find a set, they will be very expensive!! More inflated than the rubber floors that came in the cheaper stripped down vans.

I was in Arkansas on a trout fishing trip and saw a whole truck painted in the rhino line. Looked pretty neat. I know there is some good deer hunting there and driving your truck in some bad spot <trees> that would do a number on your paint job. so it kinda made since. But hey had to pay a bunch for that. _________________ 83.5 westy 2.2 subi |

I know a kid from work that has a Geo Tracker hardtop with which he did the same thing. Rhino-lined the entire body. Looks pretty different, and hides all the rust so he can pass inspection. _________________ '84 Vanagon w/ Subaru 2.2 Swap

My rig has the molding I think you're asking about. I bought it with the wheel well molding on it so I don't know if it's stock or not. _________________ 86 Syncro|EJ253|Carat |

Thanks for the links edgood1.
Really, I am just looking for the molding like what's pictured above. Thinner, curved trim that goes around the wheel well edge. I know the syncro 16 postal flares go for big bucks due to their rarity.
I know you can get the black trim molding in straight rolls, but I thought it would be tough to make it fit on the vanagon wheel well curves...
But then I tried it yesterday with some of this 3M tape:
http://www.amazon.com/3M-03614-Scotch-Mount-Molding/dp/B002JOVUO0/ref=pd_sim_auto_1
and once the trim was heated in the sun (or with a heat gun) I was able to bend it to fit nicely. I installed some of the SA rear mudflaps, and then got myself into a bigger project of pulling off the moldings and doing some minor paint/bodywork. Isn't that always the way with van projects.
I'm pretty happy with the end result and with the paintscratch.com products that I finally put to good use. _________________ '86 Wolfy Westy Weekender
