hey guys and gals,
my names kevin and i live in the lowermainland aswell as most of you it seems. Been on this site for a couple of years but finally decided to register. i used to own a 74 super beetle it was my first car which sparked my vw aircooled interest but had to sadly sell it later on down the road for a more reliable daily driver in hopes that one day later in life i would be able to get another bug.... well i finally did and i am super stoked to start my ground up rebuild on my 1958 bug..
I typed in clubs in canada and was looking for a club close to home where i could tap into other vw enthuisiests to maybe be able to bounce ideas and questions off aswell as be able to get parts or sources to make my build go easier and faster... to the ultimate goal get that 58 on the road and maybe one day grow up to be a Zündfolge club car. haha
thanks

hey ,
ya thanks for the links i'll definatley try and make some of the events,
can't make this weekend got a baseball tournament in langley but will
definatley try and make the next couple. i'm gonna take some pics of
the build just picked up some drop spindles for the front ent and a
bunch of other parts caster shims, shocks all that fun stuff gonna start
rebuilding the chasis first and see were it takes me body has been
sandblasted and has a primer on it... i think i have a narrowed beam on
it. it appears to have welded adjusters in the center of the beam. not an
expert but i measured inside to inside of the shock towers and got 32"
inches does anyone know what the stock length is on a 58 bug? i tried
looking it up and i found a forum that said it was 34" or something like
that .... wanted to hear what you guys had to say... will try to post
some pics in the next couple days been super busy ....
thanks alot

I know he does not have this bus anymore but does anyone have the specs on the suspention? I know he had an adjustable beam but was it narrowed? What did he use in the back? Drop spindles? Size of tire and rim?
IT'S PERFECT! just the way i want mine. low but driveable. Putting my beam in soon.
Thanx guys!

plus we were very proud, honoured and excited to receive the "outstanding club spirit award"...
(^^a few members were mia but there in spirit!)
all in all the whole GCVWS 2010 weekend was alot of fun and the organizers and volunteers did an outstanding job keeping everyone busy, entertained and happy (despite the less than ideal weather).
good times with great friends!! _________________ Silas

hey beetjunky...still trying to track down the specs on that old yellow bus for you...but it's changed hands a few times in the last few years and the previous owners are having trouble remembering the exact set-up!
