On mine they are not exactly the same.
The back parts are the same but the part that you seat on are a little different.
The front one has has kind of an extention on the top of the seat frame.
The back seat has an iron bar under it.

Just remember that the rear seat has a support bar across the bottom back of the rear bottom seat

Hmm. I thought they were the same - does anyone have better pix illustrating the differences?

My front and back are interchangeable on the 59, I'll check underneath to see if the frames are the same. I never noticed before.

Isn't that a bottom for a 3-position seat ? ('62?)

Exactly sir, a 1962 kind of a mix that got here in Costa Rica.
The turn signals are billet like the european version but the bumpers are with over riders like the american version.

You can see it here:

the back seat bottom of a d/c is not the same as a bottom of a front seat, the front seat had the bottom notched to the wheel arches, and the back seat is flat. you can install the fron seat in the back, but you cant put a back seat in the front.

Just went out and checked. My front and back seats are identical, backs and bottoms. I've tried them in both locations and they fit perfect. This is for a '59.

Have i opened up a can of worms here?? Sorry guys.
I havn't got any back seats at all and that was from factory, but if fronts seem to work, then that'll do me. Plus if there is a difference the chance of coming accross some and kinda slim to zero i guess.
Thanks everyone for your input.

On my 60 DC the seat bottoms are different. I have a Q. Is the rear seat base supposed to sit right down on the metal base, or are there rubber bumpers on the front lip to keep it up about 1.5"?

On my '61 there were holes for rubber bumpers in the seat base so I installed them. Same as the front seat bumpers. I wouldn't say 1.5" though, more like 1/4".

My '61 seat bottoms are the same front and rear except for the back seat having the big rear support bracket screwed on to the frame.

It's an early '61 so the seats are the same as '59 and '60 as far as I know. My rear seat base dips down in the middle, same as the front seat area does.

My understanding is that sometime in 1964 the rear seat base changed so that it was flat straight across.

There are 2 pads for the back too. Here's the one by the cargo door:

The split seat frame drops down about 8" from the ends, as does the seat frame, the Bay seat base goes straight across, no dip down.

crukab, that's a 64?-67 pedestal.

According to http://www.dropgates.com
Major Props to Dropgates for the following text. You can find pedestal photos on that site, along with a ton of truck specific info.

58 only
Curved pedestal, mounting tabs point inward.

59-60
Curved pedestal, mounting tabs point inward.

61-64(?)
Curved pedestal, mounting tabs point outward.

64?-67
Flat pedestal, mounting tabs point outward. Notice the 2 circle pressings and strength notches across the top ridge.

68 and later
Flat with no circle pressings
