This is slightly off the subject, though I did drive my 71 Sunroof Bay up to the top of Kite Hill in Echo Park/Elysian Heights, CA to take this photo.
This is a photo of an enlarged photo that I took 10 years ago of my neighborhood for a photo contest, hence the flash in the middle. I was surprised when I developed the photo how many VW's were on the street.
I counted six, one is in a garage and two are just behind the tree near the top of the street.

So Cal is full of bay window buses. Including mine, there are 5 within 3 blocks of my house. |

I know of ONE bus within 5 miles of my house..that's a lot in my area. The rest I see just passing through on a holiday or that kind of thing. Nice pictures though! _________________ 1979 Westfalia (Sage Green)

i`d have to say seattle does pretty good, i usually see 5-6 a day driving around town, everyone should do this and make this a sticky called..the bays i saw today... or something like that. or maybe since i got mine i just tend to notice everyone i see. _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.

Nice photograph! Looks like a painting, did you win? |
Thank you! No, I came in 2nd in the judging for amateurs! Not bad, and I did win a new camera. The winner got a camera and $$$$. |

Always amazed at the Bellingham-to-Mt. Vernon-to-Sedro Woolley area; whether I'm driving or biking, I see dozens of VWs, and mostly of the A/C types (or possibly it's just that the A/Cs usually catch my attention). Both my kids grew up in that area, but have now sold their respective A/C VWs. Guess I failed as a VW parent!
There are probably 30-40 A/C VWs normally residing in a circle with a 2-mile radius around my place, but that's the SoCal IE & to be expected.

Yea theizzardking great idea for a sticky “bays I saw today” I think it would be good with a few rules IMHO.
All pictures should be taken in the same day.
Only one picture of one bus per person (not the same buses every day)
And maybe just street pictures rather than show pictures cause you know there will be 30 pictures of the same 1968 pristine all original show winner.
Oh and BAYS ONLY
It would be like a photo registry. Anyhow here are a few I saw today on and around the 101 Cheers all

Hey Mackmix I was in O-side today at the beach and saw two pick-ups, one a baywindow and the other a splitty in front of a house. Total i saw 7 busses in Oceanside and one was a rusted out 21 window across from the movie theater. Wish i had my camera with me. |

very nice pics
i work in mira mesa and every other day i drive down to la jolla shores.
there has not been one day where i dont see at least one bay.
i know of this brown one that is always parked in the same exact spot in la jolla.
I am a fairly new bus owner. so if anyone here has advice that lives in san diego mb we could meet at one of the san diego weekly meetings. because i have no idea what my first step into restoring my bus should be. _________________ 1977 Camper - (sold)

Inland empire... . I was born & raised in California. I lived in HB and worked as a civil servant in the Inland empire. Boy was I glad to move from there. To crowded, high crime, smoooog, polluted beaches, way overPRICED and people are generally very shallow. Moved to the the Seattle area about two years ago. The only thing Ca. has going for it is the year round weather...nothing else.
