This was the first time I had ever read a book before seeing the movie version. I loved both, but had a hard time watching the movie with my underlying disdain for Shirley McLaine. Other than that, an excellent film. _________________ nothing |

For years I've kinda worked backwards- rating movies by what has a great original soundtrack- and it's applicability to the movie. For me it's always more audial than visual. This leaves me with the following composers and the resulting great movie:
#4- Maurice Jarre- "Grand Prix"
#3- Eric Serra- "The Fifth Element"
#2- James Horner- "Apollo 13"
#1- Stewart Copeland- "Rumblefish"
Every part of each soundtrack perfectly applies to each act/scene/anything. I just realized most are decades apart- 60s, late 90s, early 90s and early 80s _________________

^^^ I could see "Bullitt" fitting in there somewhere for the soundtrack. Not much dialogue to compete with, either.
The Fifth Element is a great film. Complete and utter escapism. Great for a rainy Sunday afternoon. _________________ nothing |

I cant decide on my favourite dramas but for comedy I loved Peter Sellars "the Party" and then Gene Wilder Richard Pryor in "Hear no Evil, See no Evil". I cried with laughter in both of these.
