hey my names hucks. i spend most of my time in the off road forum. well i have a any problem. i rent a old school house and ants come from every where. i was wondering if anyone new any tricks to keep thos Fin things out. thanks.

First, eliminate the attraction; food and water. Use ziplock bags for Anything they can get into. Fix leaky faucets/hose bibs around the house.

Get spray pesticide (malathion or diazinon if you can still get them in your area), and spray it into any crack you see them coming out of. If you have an attic, spread granular pesticide along outer walls and into any crevice you see ants. Put those ant stakes out on counters--they take a week but they move poison back to the nest. Beware if you have pets or small children.

The do the above but skip the parts that put poison anywhere the dog can reach. The stakes can be laid on the counter beyond his/her reach and still do the job. It starts with the cleanup.

I had major ant problems in a rental house that had leaks and was left vacant for six months, and they took OVER! I had them in the walls and coming up through slab cracks. I eventually got them under control with the above methods, but it took a few months.

Where are they coming in? It's important to cut them off as well as send poison back to the nests.

Terro works well for me. Put about a dimes worth where you see the ants and watch them swarm around it. Couple of days later they're gone. Good shit and way cheaper than an anteater.

they mostley come out of the wall. i was going to get some white silacone and fill all the cracks and hols i see. the house was built in like the 50's so theres no concret foundation. im pretty sure they are liveing under the house and coming up through the walls.

Stop wasting your time call a pro then use all the other stuff

Scatter diazinon granules under the house, and block access so the dog doesn't get in there. They will take it back to the nest and be gone ina week or so, and stay gone for months. I also used a WD-40 spray tip on a bug spray can and fed some into walls before sealing cracks. And buy ziplocks at Costco!

I have had good results using Home Defense around the perimeter and Ortho Max out in the yard. I had the big black ants and the red/black ants all over the yard and it got rid of em'. I went outside one afternoon, and they had a path a foot wide and about 100 yards long to my neighbors trashcan, I could see them from across the yard!

In the kitchen. Get a spray bottle and use bleach. The ants die

mix Borax and powered sugar together and sprinkle it where you see ants.
The workers carry the mix back to the colony and they all die

we used purple kool-ade instead of sugar for a joke and they got it
