Im racing offroad and I have a 1915 with 044's I have a 44 but it need a throatle shaft, I also have a really nice 40 idf that I could put on. My question is would it be a big power difference between the two ? I am more concerend with torque ! also what venturie should I use if I were to use the forty |

I have a single set up for off road... its a 44
The 44 will make more power and TQ.
Email me If I can help, I build these all the time for racers...

You would have to run the same size vents in the 44 as you would in the 40 which means they would be the same size carb in the end.
Run the 40IDF. _________________ Jerry...

No they wouldn't be.
Carb theory is complicated but a venturi chokes the incoming air which increases the velocity but reduces the pressure so as to suck gas through a jet and vapourise it in the air stream.
The real limiting factor is not the venturi but the carb body as it will only allow a certain amount of air flow at a given pressure. A 40mm body will not allow as much air to the venturi as a 44. This will restrict the amount of air for the given venturi to choke, which will comparatively reduce the intake velocity and the pressure differential in the smaller carb for the same revs. This will reduce the amount of gas sucked and the efficiency of the atomisation and the burn
a 32mm vent in a 44 is more efficient than in a 40 so the rev range and intake velocity will be different. |

sounds good, just wondering would smaller ones make the power come in faster down low ? |

I thought you said this was a RACE ENGINE? If so the 1000 to 3000 RPM will not matter
But I dought you will gain much down low but you sure WILL lose alot up top on the rpm..
If you want to experence the different carbs, Buy both to 40 IDF and 44 IDF set them up for single use, tune them and go drive around.. see which one works best for you.
