Alright... I did a search in the gallery and forum with no luck.

Ive seen a ton of Beetle and some Type3 Assembly line pics, but NONE of busses. Any links and such would be appreciated... I'd just really like to see some bus assembly shots, I love those factory pics.

Post them up if you have em!

Please forgive my ignorance, but why does only one of those pictured on the right have front turn signals? Did they cut 'em in later? (That would seem strange.)

Thanks.

I don't think that is a turnsignal, but a reflection of light from above. These are early busses with semafores(however it's spelled) I believe. Look at the second picture posted above of the bus hanging from a strap, notice the slot behid the drivers side door, that is for semafore turnsignals.

So there were "other than barndoors" that came without front turn signals? Unless those are barndoors. It looks like they have the vent overhang above the windshield. I didn't see the semaphore slots.

Thanks.

Yeah, but the single cab on the floor, facing the camera, clearly has turn signals. Perhaps that's a US-spec bus, and the ones on the rack are euro-spec busses, with semaphores.

Checkout all the cool transmissions hanging from the ceiling. I guess they would press a button and the tranny would be moved on a conveyor type machine. Cool

Please tell this story! How do you know it's your bus? (Sorry if I missed it in the past)

well, my bus is made June 53, which fits with the beetles.
It also has that exact roof rack and the 53 & earlier ambulance scoop.
I have been looking for a bus with the same roof rack, never even found a pic.
It looks like my bus, though it could be its twin.

The picture used to hang on the wall of Wolfsburg Warehouse in Seattle, and was a print made from one of the negatives found by Steve Woods in Germany the eighties or so. Unfortunately the negatives seemed to be missing, as there were a lot more pictures.

After Bill closed the shop, he sold me the print.

Look at the bus in front, it has a dark (black?) color with a light (white?) stripe at the beltline. Air scoop in the back. Looks like a custom color scheme to me.
Had to be special order. I wonder what happened to it.
