https://www.vancafe.com/251919372-p/251919372.htm
Can anyone tell me the thread size of the coolant level sensor.
I've gotten rid of all my WBX parts and have nothing to measure.
I'd love to purchase RMW/Vancafe aluminum coolant tank, however it will not work with my 1.8T swap, hose fittings wrong, and I think too tall also.
So I plan to make my own, and I'm considering using the stock Vanagon coolant sensor. I've never seen one fail, they are cheap, and readily available.
Presently in the planning phase, and need to see if I have access to the required tap. |

The stock cooling temperature sensor has about the same life expectancy as the plastic tank. Best to replace both at the same time unless you just love buying antifreeze and potentially replacing fried engines. |

RMW didn't work for me outlets are not off set for the early 1.9l they used the diesel tank those early production models, thinking of having one made locally by a marine outfit near me, I was going to get a sensor from vancafe they use on the RMW tank overall better quality part . |

I’ve had them fail. They are made so cheaply, that last time I got one, I went to the dealer to get a better one w/o a huge seam, but the VW one was identical.
Never the less, I’m interested in what you come up with. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

O.K. then, they do fail.....
so with the work involved in making a tank, I'll just use the sensor that Vancafe sell as a replacement unit for their "tank" |

Can you post a picture so I better understand the fitment issues you ran into with the 'TANK' not fitting on your Vanagon.? _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

can't post pics right now, but the RMW tank outlets are inline and early 84's needed the diagonally offset, the replacement Oem/ original would have a D on the end of the PN # |
