From my trip to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area over the 4th of July.
It was great to get out of the heat of Salt Lake City and do some mountain biking on Fisher Creek and other cool trails.
One of the best things about a Westy... even primitive camp site can easily become home for the night.

Bug out camping trip with our daughter and two mutts to the North Fork Flathead backcountry, and then Flathead Lake. Met a 96 year old ranger at Kintla that drives his 84 Wolfy, towing a bug, to the park from Colorado every year to help run the campground. Been doing it since 1988. Can't lift the top anymore, and a nice Vanagon dude bought him a set of pop top shocks and mailed them to him. Nice. Met several folks that came over to talk about the van throughout the trip, and met a great couple in a beautiful Assuan Brown '82 diesel Westy from Edmonton. Very successful trip!

Northern California. A sunny AM then comes the daytime fog rolling in. False Klamath cove on Hwy 101, about 14mi south of Crescent City.

At 9AM there were several RVs that had overnighted here, dangit. With chairs out etc, seemingly un-molested. We shoulda camped here!

Haha Benj yes I do, you guys musta been late for work!

We stopped at Oregon caves National monument then kinda shot thru Oregon like crap thru a goose, and camped at the quietest, "most pleasant" I-5 rest area (Gee Creek rest area) near Battle Ground, WA.

Got up in the morning and drove to Mount St Helens National Monument, Washington Cascades.

You got it. Creede, CO. Really cool spot. The drive from Lake City to Creede is also one of my favorite in recent memory.

A quick bon-fire on the Samoa Dunes in Humboldt County. I actually pulled the Toyota over a hill at the end of the evening. To his credit, he didn't air down. Great test of the light bar too.

That's gorgeous! Did a quick overnighter last night without the kids, complete with high country SUPing. I think I claim first ascent for 2wd van for this particular lake. Had to give a couple of the uphills right after the hairpins a few goes. Could've really used a granny...

We passed a Nissan 4x4 pickup coming down. He had turned around because it "looked to sketchy" but we made it up okay. Need the locker and low gear though. Maybe he didn't have lockers.
