Frenchman Coulee, WA

I backed the van and trailer into the only level spot. Let's hope I only burned up a few thousand miles of clutch, not 100,000 miles of it.

My starting point after restocking with supplies was Silverton, CO 10 mi. to NW.
It was hard to get to this spot at Kite Lake.
This link will open it on Google Maps:

Forest pics in the Wilderness thread?
Does this mean pnwkayaker doesn't know there's a Vanagons by the sea, lake and river thread thread?
It's 30 pages long.
It's only 1/3 of the Wilderness thread, but 30 pages is lots of nice Van pics to get you out there!

Fair enough, I added the pic to the Vanagons by the sea, lake and river thread - mods, feel free to remove my above post so we have a clean theme separation between both threads.

Went for a MTB ride then attempted to find camping along a creek. Turns out one needs to go FAR away from the normal spots to find camping these days but this worked out great since the valley bottom got shaded so soon and we were treated to great aplenglow and no 4-wheeler noise.

The stargazing was also mind blowing but I had lost my camera at that point.

Very nice pictures and bikes! Where do you keep your bikes when you're sleeping?

Thanks!

We often camp in places where it’s safe to just leave the bikes leaning against a tree. Otherwise we put them on the bike rack and put a couple locks on them if we think it’s warranted. I like to think thieves don’t hang out in the woods- but we have good insurance on the bikes, just in case.
