Just finished my honeymoon in westy and toured all over the pacific northwest. I have the most amazing wife because she totally loved it! I am planning a thread to tell you all about it so I will try not to post a bunch of pics here.

Kinda boring video, but I like the soundtrack! This is in a "secret" canyon in Eastern Utah that few people know about.

Back from an 18 days trip in the beautiful island Sardegna, Italy....

We stayed only 2 nights in camping lots, all the other nights were into the wild... The sea was amazing, the path quite friendly for the bus and the sleeping spots marvellous.

The tradition is : a guy welcome buses on his land.
Kids battles adults with water guns.
Kids race cranked mini-buses on a mini quarter mile racing strip.
Adults fight with marsh mallows by the fire.

It's a very competitive w-e as you can see.

30 minutes South of Montreal. (amazingly cheap: I left Montreal with less than half a tank of gas thinking as usual: I must remember to fill up before leaving: but a whole weekend camping and exploring on a quarter of tank of gas...that's nice)

Popping it near Hoosier Pass outside Breckenridge Colorado

With a syncro westy it's so easy: Find a small forest-service road,
drive down until a spectacular vista is found, park in a level spot
and pop-the-top.

I do that with my 2wd all the time, am I breaking the rules? Wink

I carry a small folding shovel, it has a pick on it too, great for digging a small hole or 2 to get the van leveled out.

JB,

Of course not, sorry to imply otherwise.

Though, in this case, you may have a spot of trouble with the spring-fed bog that the track goes through just before you break out into the open meadows. Clearance is usually more important than 4WD, my kid and his girlfriend stuck his unlifted Landcruiser there a few years ago.

For those still reading, to reach this spot, go ~200yards down the south side of the pass and cut-back sharp to the right. The road is not marked. There's lots of nice forest camping b4 you hit the bog. After the bog are the meadows, vistas and old mine sites to explore.

Actually the only rule you seem to have broken was to not include an inspiring picture of your Vanagon in the Wilderness in your reply Smile Here's one from that area where some mountain goats came down to the cars.
