Almost any auto parts store has those little electronic look-up machines that allow you to find wiper blades for for VDUB.

Nope. The passenger side on already hangs off the windshield where it's curved at the bottom. Longer blades would look kinda silly I think.

I noticed that with the passenger side too.
The wiper doesn't hit the glass all the way.

Has anyone tried using a smaller wiper on that side???

I only advised as to the original size, I use 15" for both sides, never did like the overhang.

shorter wipers will leave larger areas of the windshield untouched. vw used the size they did for a reason.

Yea, you will lose a 1/2" top and bottom. Personally I found no ill effect in changing the length, I also feel I get a better wipe.

I have found that the rear wiper blade from the 1st series of Mercedes ML suv works perfect. MB part number 163 820 05 45
Part number P7030-276063 here: http://www.importeccatalog.com/

Nice thing about them: they last a long time and they do not scratch the glass when the rubber lip falls off..... like cheapo Trico and Anco do.

Also if you buy the, ugh, Target or other bargain basement type blades they're usually made of plastic. They don't bend as well as the original steel, nor do they hold the correct tension on the glass (i.e. a bad wipe). I ordered the Anco steel blades from O'Reilly Auto Parts. The part number was 91-16. Nice blades Wink. Peace!

I usually buy Bosch 16" wipers and they work great. The last pair I got were actually designed for rear windows, didn't notice until I had put them on and looked at the package. But I don't see what the difference is.

Mine came with 15" and they popped loose every so often when used. They seemed to be just short enough to slip off. No problems with that after swtiching to 16".

I like Bosch Micro Edge, in the 16" flavor, but where do you buy refills?
Not ONE FLAP , nor Wally World, sells refills any more. They gladly sell you a Bosch Icon for $14.95, but, hey, no refills- buy another one next time! You could get refills all over town, but not anymore. I found refills online, but really, who wants to pay double, with shipping? Twisted Evil

BTW-
Hey look, mister. We serve hard drinks in here for men who want to get drunk fast, and we don't need any characters around to give the joint "atmosphere".
LOL- I love that episode!! Very Happy

Not ONE FLAP

Ran into the same problem a few months ago. Couldn't believe it. The only part that ever needs replacing is the rubber refill. No need to buy the whole darn thing. It's so dry here that frequently the blades will never see a rain drop in their life time. However they might dry rot in just a few months. A lot of time, between the bug and the bus, I take them off and keep them stored inside so they last longer. The length of the refill doesn't matter just so that it is as long or longer than we need. Easily cuts with scissors. For my bug I had always bought ones double the length and then cut them in half.

Anyone know of where and how to get refills? Paying $15 dolars for the un-necessary blade is throwing money to the wind when only a $2 refill is needed. Is it just some dumb marketing ploy for the manufactures and distributors to force us to help line their pockets? Maybe in the future when we go to buy a tire they might only sell them mounted on a new wheel with a new hubcap.

I use 16 inch, Swedish made, SWW wash/wiper blades, with hollow blade rubbers, fed by a flexible rubber hose, which evenly distributes the windscreen-washer water over the glass.

These can be purchased by mail-order, direct from SW Washwiper AB, in Stocksund, Sweden.
