What is the size of bolt for a 66 type 1 steering stop . This bolts to the welded area on the beam that is adjustable for the steering arm to stop against when you turn the steering to the max. Best I can explain.

Wide Five early Lugnuts/ Lug bolts are M12 x 1.50

I needed this because the torque meister wont allow for lug nuts to attach it to drums (too short)

Please advise: What is the drill bit size needed to change my 12mm break drum lug bolt threads to 14 mm threads? Note I do not want to install press in studs (which is a bigger drill bit, I want to install either lug bolts or screw in studs). What is the pitch of the tap? Is the tap a 14 mm? I appreciate your advice.

can anyone help find what size bolts/screws i might need. it's the hardware for the steering column support that attaches underneath the dash for a '66 bus. it requires 4 bolts/screws. i think there are 2 different sizes. just to clarify, its the piece you always hit you knee on when getting into your bus. thanks!

What vehicle?

M8x1.25 would be the most common.

PostPosted: Fri May 18, 2012 5:17 am    Post subject: Only metric sizes on the origianl VW? Reply with quote

Well, I just came back from Europe, had a great time and some interesting discussions. Among them was a statement from a friend wo is a long-time mechanic, mostly Mercedes. He maintains that all items on the original VW, i. e. Beetle were always metric. I challenged that by quoting the wheel sizes as 14 inch or 15 inch. He denied it and claimed that they are in metric conversions. I also quoted my experience with the oil pressure sensor connection to the block that I always found to be 1/8" NPT (National Pipe Thread). Can anyone verify my opinions and give me a source to copy?
Thanks,

Thanks,

oil pressure switch threads are m10 x 1.0 straight, not NPT.

the only inch fasteners on a VW are the seat belt hardware which are all 7/16" -20.
