|
|
I just found this truck today at a junkyard and am trying to figure out what year it is. I'll be able to get a look at the M-code the next time I get out (and hopefully get it up off the ground and see how bad the underside is) but I'm hoping you can give me an idea from the pic. It's probably too far gone to think about restoring but if the frame isn't too bad I think I'll try to rescue it. Aside from the glass and the tailgate it seems fairly complete. Apparently it was driven in there in 69.

We haven't negociated that part yet. I'll probably be talking to him tomorrow about it. The hardest part will be getting it out if I do end up buying it. Several trees and a couple Beetles that haven't moved since the 70's will have to be moved to get at it. _________________ 1985 Diesel Jetta Coupe (temporarily retired at

It's another singlecab but it's newer and rustier. I can't make out what the logo on that one says.

After you get it you should call B&K and see if they can dig up any info. or pictures of when it was in service. Very cool to see a bus that old with logos from a company that's still in business. _________________ 71 pop-top |

Grab the rusty one as well and strip it for parts - there's lots of food stuff on it.
The blue bullet single looks good - hopefully it isn't too crusty underneath.
I really dig the logos!
Hope it works out for you. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

I just spoke to the owner and he isn't interested in selling the trucks separately, he wants to sell the trucks and the remains of 13 Beetles and a couple old Pontiacs for $1200. I'm going up and jack the truck up sometime next week and see if it's worth the bother.
I just found out that my father and my uncle both worked for that company in the mid 60's. _________________ 1985 Diesel Jetta Coupe (temporarily retired at

score of 2008, 17 cars for 1200 bucks. seeeeeeeeek!!!!!
Man thats sweet. even if you pulled them, and decided you dont want them, your gonna be able to sell them all and have a decent turnaround.
Definitely get them out of there. if all the beetles are late models, steel is selling for a very nice amount these days. _________________ Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

There's not much left to the Beetles though. Most of them have been sitting here since the late 60's.

That is a steal! Hell, you could take any salvageable bits off of the Beetles and sell the rest for scrap and come out on top. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.
