vin # guide

howdy!
I have a 68 vw sedan but cannot find the vin number in the samba guides. Anyone know where I can match vin numbers?

The Samba's VINs only go up to 1967 for some reason. Here's a site that goes further.

There's not much to read in these VINs other than the year...a '68 should start with 118, and the remaining 6 digits are simply the serial number as it came off the line.

VW VINs don't "read" like other vehicles. You can only really tell year, model, and production number from them.
