Tried my hand at putting in carpet today. This set (TMI charcoal) came with the car when I bought it almost 3 years ago. FINALLY got around to it. I only
glued the kick panels, Used Velcro to hold the floor in place
with the jute padding underneath it.
Also put on some window decals. I may be removing one or two, not sure which yet. It looks a little crowded.
When I'm on Vacation in April I'm probably going to attack the
window rubber.
CRITIQUE is greatly wanted and appreciated.

I never trust that thing. When I get a cup of coffee at WAWA or Dunkin' Donuts, I make sure to drink enough
of it before getting back in the car. _________________ Jim Douglas....I am Not. |

Nice stickers. That must be what a new York garage looks like. It probably costs a pretty penny too. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

That's a good size garage. I've heard of parking spaces in NYC costing the same as a house here. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

Beautiful Lawn Glenn.
Thanks. Actually, it did cost a pretty penny. $30,000 just to lift the house
and build a new foundation.
My house was ALMOST destroyed by Sandy in 2012. The house (living space)
sits 8 feet above this garage.
Here is the outside 3 years ago. I no longer own the Geettle (Golf/Jetta/Beetle)
on the right any longer.

Can't say there's really much of anything to critique, the carpet install looks pretty sharp. In your driveway shot though, you seem to have spat out a tail pipe baffle. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

Thanks, I cheated somewhat and used industrial strength velcro on the floor on both sides. This way I can take the carpet up to clean/inspect under there.
That shot was taken 3 years ago when I just bought the car. Since then
the car has a new muffler and two new tail pipes. Knew that when I
bought it. I actually looks like it has a turd sticking out. _________________ Jim Douglas....I am Not. |

Not today, but the last thing I did was chock the wheels, take the bug out of gear, and take the parking brake off.
Waiting on her 'blanket' (car cover) to come in the mail and she'll be down for her 'long winter's nap'. _________________ 1973 Standard Beetle

Not too much exciting, but I did get me a battery powered motion sensor light for the front trunk. Took the light and glued a magnet to the back and put it on the underside of the hood.
Lift the hood and viola! Lighted cargo area.
Bonus help with lighting the front when working on electrical etc. _________________ 1973 Standard Beetle

Replaced the fuel overflow hoses. Smell "evaporated" Put a match to the old ones, but didn't flame as much as I had hoped. |

Still have salt covered roads here in WV, so I can only do a few small things on the Bug. Continued with my battery powered lights and magnets idea to add two touch activated lights for the front foot wells. Also included photos of the trunk light I did the other day too. (phone wasn't dead today so I could actually take a picture )
Also been working to clean up and create a reproduction dealer decal of the VW dealership which originally sold my Bug in 1973 from a picture of the OG decal uploaded here on TheSamba. Finished it today and put magnetic tape on the back and stuck it on above the decklid latch. I think it looks pretty good!
Shout out to Gary for uploading that picture of the decal. Thanks wherever you are!

Replaced the stub axle bearings on the passenger side, hate drive line work lol. I've also been fighting with my carbs, it doesn't like to run on a cold start when it's cold. Thinking I need to step up the idle and air jets, I even tried putting bags around the filters as a choke when it was raining the other day but it ran the same, runs great above 2k rpm lol. |
