Just today I noticed a leak in a short piece of my fuel line, between my all-metal fuel filter and my single Weber 40DCNF carburetor. I had brand-new German fuel line in my trunk, and I replaced that leaky fuel line, including using a piece of rubber hose as the protective "grommet".
I was not able to pinpoint exactly the reason for the leak. I know some here hate braided fuel line, and I know some here hate worm-style hose clamps....
Yes, also noticed that the ground wire to the generator has cracked insulation; yes, folks - it gets real hot here in Arizona !!! Original factory ground wire there. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. That will help!
Clamping the whole filter may be an option to relief strain? |

Installed some Corbeau Moab seats in my 74 super last night using their adapters for 73-79 beetles. Was a 30min bolt-in job. No cutting or welding or modification required. How often can you say that when installing aftermarket parts? I really like how they look and feel. Can't wait to get the car on the road soon.

Thanks. I lucked out. The Corbeau Moab shape was what I was after. Something similar to tombstone style Porsche or Miata seats. Unfortunately, most Corbeau seats come with the harness slot which I think looks silly in a classic car. I realized they offer a version without the slot so I jumped on it. Turns out that was the last pair in stock of that limited run. They are no longer available. Score! _________________ 74 Super

Replaced my radio and was able to hook up a couple wires that I had knocked loose at some point. Now I have a 2-speed fan again and the brake light works again. the brake light wire was the black key on hot wire, I don't know how it didn't ground itself years ago, it was just floating around in there. _________________ 1972 1302

Looks familiar, I used that location for my power plug as well:

Rebuilt a speedo using a mix of '69 and '68 parts. I like the look of the '68 speedo but wanted the parking light indicator so I modified the '68 speedo face for the park light warning and used the housing from a '69.

Replaced the front-left blinker assembly w/a good original. Old one had too much corrosion to salvage, driving/parking light would turn off when going over bumps in the road. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

Finished repairing some previous bodywork, fix some crunch areas and welded holes, in rear apron. Included the removal of the inner heat shield with all rust treated and heat shield spot welded back into place.

Cleaned up the new to me pedal cluster. I didn’t take any before shots. The clutch hook was new and the rest of the cluster was pretty good. I hope to actually get it installed this weekend. The clutch will be easy to hook back up right?
The foot was my dads I took it from his house when I cleaned it out. I think it will be a cool addition. |

I'd run it!
Clutch cable hooking is a delicate balance to keep it hooked while installing the pedal cluster.
Some say a bread bag, wire tie around the hook and the cable end will hold it in place.
Or a small "Zip tie" will do the same job. Neither of these worked for me.
But try them if you feel unsure of your abilities to keep the cable on the hook.
Just don't let the clutch pedal flop rearward while install the cluster into the tunnel.
Or you'll be trying again. _________________ I have learned over the years.
