|
|
I've got a 71 bay. I just assembled a type 1 engine and installed it. The starter turns the flywheel, but the engine won't ignite. I've got a spark, but it is very weak. I've tried 2 different coils and got the same result. It's got petronix.
I'm pretty sure it's all hooked up correctly. Any advice on what to check next? |

It's not the straight cut gears It's the T.A.R.D.I.S. engine.

This is why I like points. Don't leave your ignition on when the motor isn't running, points will last 20k miles Take a spare set along and know how to change them.
Takes a long time to pay for Pertronix. And they fail, too.

Re-check everything you're pretty sure you're not sure of. Try taking the Pertronix out and putting points back in. If your distributor is 180 out, make sure your plug wires are installed properly for the difference. Don't let your new battery get below 12.5 Volts or you'll never get it started. Is your fuel pump pumping fuel?? _________________ '66 Beetle

How many volts do you have at the coil with ignition on? _________________ "I reject your reality and replace it with my own"
