Hi all, I just bought this from a guy in the uk, i'm really pleased with it as it's never been welded before although it will need a small amount on the floors. I was just wondering if any of you guys recognise it? It came from Frostwood Circle, Dickinson, Texas. If anyone has any information or photos of it please post em up or better still if you recognise it post up a response. It has mostly original lotus white paint under the graffiti and I plan on uncovering it all in the near future. Thanks Colin.

Originally i thought this bus was a texas bus as this is what the paperwork states but after a couple of minutes of paint removal i found an old parking permit/license sticker on the rear corner. It says Berkeley California 1975.

i know this bus. i live about 20 min from where this bus has sat for quite a while... tried to buy it numerous times myself. the last time i looked at it was march of 2007. it was located off of hwy 146 in tx, very close to dickinson (a small older town in south east texas). this is very close to galveston island tx about 20 min or so. it was at a gentlemans house who works on old vws, mostly bay windows. i talked to him briefly last march and he told me he got the bus for free from a friends mother i believe, after the son (his friend) left the bus with mom. he was very protective of the bus and knew its value. i remember every one of the greenish tinted skylight windows were inside... hope you got them Wink
anyway, hope this sheds some light on your new bus and answers some questions for you.
if you have any further question or if you would like to have the old mans number, im sure i could talk to him for you.

Thanks very much for these pics, the chap i bought it from said he collected it himself but had no photos of it's location. 50% of the crap paint has been removed so i must get some pics of it on here, maybe i should put them on the restoring og paint thread. It came complete with all the original glass and yes the roof glass is tinted green, thanks very much Colin.

Well it's been a busy week, i've spent about 30 hours in total stripping the van back trying to uncover as much og paint as possible. The poor repaint was that bad that I got most of it off with a £2 scraper from my local hardware store, here is a pic of it being stripped.

Here's my bro with the stripper ( he wishes it was a real stripper instead of this poor excuse)

On the rear corner there is a work permit/sticker of some sort, this pic was as it was being uncovered, it's now cleaned and has a date of 1975 on it.

The whole van is now back to the grey colour you see in the following pics, this is a thick coat of primer covering some small repairs but mainly og paint.

Today is sunday and tomorrows work Sad so we decided to see what the paint was like underneath, after 2 hours of wet sanding and a few chrome goodies to give an overall picture this is the end result.

If all the other panels turn out like this one I should be fine. I'll try and keep up to speed and post as soon as anything else happens,Col.

I've now done the roof, it's not too bad just a patch where some sort of roof mounted object has been. Probably a company logo or a beacon of some sort, it also has holes in the rear hatch where a sign must of been bolted. It would be cool if i could find out what the company was or what it was used fo all those years ago, no worries though i'll carry on regardless.

I thought that it was a reference to the fact that under all those bright colors was a chunky, white dude that because of a bent tye-rod only putted around in left handed circles.
