We went in our 4 buses from central TX to Lincoln Nat. Forest New Mexico and back in Dec. '22. 1245 mi. for my bus.
Sometimes you meet some very interesting folks when you are out in the middle of nowhere in a VW bus. We sure did. And they are friendly and helpful. _________________ '64 single cab Big Bend Bus Bash 2015 '16

Good morning,
I took this GREAT topic from the beginning again. It is long to read it all, a little bit every day and hope to update soon with my own experiences.
Thank you all for beautiful pictures!

A battery-powered CO alarm is a good idea for a bus with a woodstove. I had a stove in the bus back in the seventies and I wished then that an alarm was available. It doesn't take much going wrong for a bus to fill up with CO. It's also good for checking the integrity of your heater boxes in the fall when you first turn them on. |

Would be cool to see a thread started on that 67 camper, sounds like it has some interesting features _________________ 1958 Dove Blue DD Panel

Beautiful pictures. Are you running a wood burning stove in your bus? |
Thank you! And yes there's a cubic stove inside for cold mornings. The previous owner threw a diesel heater inside as well but I prefer the romance of fire. |
Never heard of or seen one before, but why would I living here in San Diego. I always carried a small suitcase filled with cold weather clothes in for my winter camping trips. _________________ Prosit!

Snowbank Mountain, Idaho. This was a fairly sketchy trip with loads of steep parts that I needed first gear for. Also the bus not starting at the top was a bit stressful but hey, we both made it back in one piece. I actually lost a hubcap on the way up and a guy in an ATV picked it up and gave it to me at the top of the mountain! Strangers can be amazing.
