This muffler is not for 75-79 with catalytic converter. I hate it when sellers do this. An uninformed buyer is going to be very disappointed. If their tagline is correct and they've been in business for a half a century they should know the difference. It's for a Type-1.

I was thinking it may just be a mistake, as it is easy to hit the wrong classified section when posting up ads. But that thing has been on here for 8 1/2 years. Even his own ad shows the diagram describing that it is for a type 1.

It's a Vanagon muffler for the Euro 1600 model, closer to bus than bug, but still in the wrong category.

So there were Vanagons with an upright style engine? Didn't know that.

Not "upright", more like a type 3, but with a clusterf*ck of exhaust pipes and crap added, I guess it was for those markets where you were taxed on displacement.

Yeah it looks just like a type 3. There was a Swiss panel Vanagon up for sale awhile ago that had a factory type 1 style motor. The tin work was very interesting to say the least.

If it compresses and leaks down well, I’d probably pay $1k for the internals, engine, and tranny.

You know that's a Corvair engine, right?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that bus if your primary daily goals are weed and hanging out with your friends. Priorities man, Wink Cool Laughing

I’d hate to see it in the rain at any speed.

Had a friend that ran temps back in the day on the front of his beetle. I drove it once when it was wet out and the front end would hop when trying to go around the corner...super sketchy. I can’t even begin to imagine how horrible that bus would be to drive even in dry conditions.
