I just found your thread today, what a great story. Iam impressed with your work and the conditions that you had to do your work in, I piss and moan when I head out to the garage and its too cold. Great story and great job on the bus. |

That's the right rear stance for a stock bus. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Well – typically this things in hibernation (no not the type that leads to it being finished by me and then enjoyed by someone else).
So with no VW at the moment I’ve been finding myself browsing the samba + KCW looking at builds until I’ve exhausted all ways to kill VW time.
So these are for any other losers like me with nothing better to do who stare at the classified until their eyes hurt Enjoy.
Driving across France (first big trip, make in tow hauling a full load of my stuff + parts. Couldn’t believe how well it coped with the heavy load in the back.
Enjoy – I’ll be chucking a load up for the people with square eyes
Driving though Provence SE-France in the 60 = Heaven
Oil change + service.
Trying to make an emergency G-box oil filler with Mc Donalds straws???

WOW! Amazing!
So you're now in France?? What is your next stop in this trip?
If you are willing to travel south, I'm setting up a split bus only meeting in Barcelona, the 3rd May 2014... Just in case you want to win the Farthest bus trophy...
Again, amazing! _________________ 1967 Split SO-42 Dormobile |

Just keeping this up so I can find it easily in my watched topics - often switch back and look back though my own thread - 2 years since I parked her up in storage, due to semi-perm travel.
Currently rebuilding my Royal Enfields engine after a bearing failure on Lake Toba Sumatra - enjoyed the last 2 days trying to make a magneto puller on an island in the middle of this volcanic lake! _________________ I want a real garage.

So - seriously blowing off some cobwebs. Pulled her out of storage and a week later (with not alot of work we're driving some 1000+kms to Gothenburg.
Cant really complain about anything - hardly skipped a beat, although I do find alot of my time dreaming of a bigger engine and some higher ratio's in the gearbox. Temporary solution so far has been to keep to the smaller roads which suits us just fine.
The interior has been developing as we've been driving and so far I think we've spent just over a month living in the bus.
Happy to report my girlfriend loves Van life and that this is very much a prototype trip to weed out as many kinks as we can.
A substancial update mechanically and on the interior is on the distant horizon so that we can get the most use out of this old beast.
Pics will tell more of the story soon. But for now just putting this up as a bit of motivation. _________________ I want a real garage.

If anyone knows any air cooled spares in Gothenburg that would be great!
I'd really love to get the reserve tap sorted! _________________ I want a real garage.
