Why do some Porsche Space Saver wheels have 2 valve stems instead of one?

Is one stem to suck down the tire snug to the rim, and the other to inflate?

It seams like extremely dark gray rust might be the new black confusion, but for fast clarity can we slowly ANSWER THE GUY'S QUESTION?
Actually, I'm clueless as to the two valve stems. My 911 has a space saver spare, but looking at it is WAY down the list of important things to fix.
I say maybe.

the space saver I just picked up has one valve stem, but its a really odd valve stem. its metal and almost look like its maybe a an overpressure release or or something to that effect???? Only worry I have is can I take it out oand jsut pur a regular stem on there when I put the regular tire on for the vanagon?

Too bad the space saver is not really sufficent for the vanny. the tire on mine looks to have been recently replaced because the wheel has been used but the tire has definitly not and looks fresh, the "donor" car is undergoing an electric conversion so the spare had to go.

Why can't you use a stock sized tire for a spare?
Then you don't have to worry about inflating it.

I think he just want to use the steel Porsche rims, including the spare rim.

Yeah, I wasn't asking about the rubber tire, I was asking about the rim. I have collected 3 rims so far (which happen to have the space saver tire which I won't be using), and two of the rims have two valve stems and one rim has only one valve stem.

What gives?

Is there anything special about those rims or are they just 15x6j or something like that? I have a 72 parts car that came with steel rims. I think they are a bit wider than the 15's on the early cars. Or are these 16's? later cars in the 80's went to the red alloy special rims. I don't know what year exactly.

I have been buying the red aluminum cast alloy rims. They come in 15, 16, and 17 inch sizes.

Mine are 16x5.5. I want some wheels that fill out the well a bit more, but don't want or need wider wheels.

I like them as they are cheap, don't have problems with the center hole dimension being too small, and the with the right K&N adapters, they bolt right in.

The older rims were either painted or anodized and they are very nice too:

It would seem with those skinny tires and rims one could make a set of thin duelies! Boy that would be different.

Al, I heard that the steel ones are desireable for 356's or something like that because they are a little wider than what they came with and make a good track wheel IIRC

I got one just to use as a spare for my vanagon as I have switched to Porsche wheels and it will be alot easier to just change the tire and not the tire and adapter on the side of the road (hopefully I never have to find out)

Those look pretty good on that DC!
