Looks pretty Jim.
I have to apologize for never having dug up those old pics of my Baja when it had the "bugeye" baja kit.
Did you use fiberglass that you had shipped from the US? _________________ Richard

Hello again dusty
. not a problem about the pics I know you had a lot on your plate at the time . I did use a fiberglass kit .its an old kit but I don't know it origins ,I'm keeping an eye out for a better bonnet as I'm not happy with the fit of the one ive got and the gel coat is quite bad .but apart from that I'm loving having it back on the road

My son's Baja project that we have been working on for the past few years. We took it to San Felipe for the 250 a few weeks ago to put some miles on it. He got lucky with the plates. Fun car.
And here is the Bug the day we picked it up a few years back:

Picked this beauty a few months back. Just finished up the rack and working out the carbs. Was built pretty well prior to me but fine tuning everything and making her run like a demon.

Wow, what size are those swampers? What engine/trans/gearing are you running with those and how does it all work?

they are 29X10.5 dont know what gearing it has. looks like a single side cover trans. the engine is a 1600 sp with a w100 cam and dual icts. it does feel slow and hard to go above 80mph. it drives ok in town. |

man, I really need to regear. I have a bus trans and am maxed out at 70 in the buggy. I'm sure the 225/70R15 tires don't help, I should really go a few sizes bigger. _________________ 4 seater Appletree buggy, road legal with 002 IRS, 3x3 Appletree kit, 6" over Dan's beam with 10" towers and Fox 2.0 shocks, '00 Subaru EJ25 with KEP stage 3 clutch and KEP adapter plate.

yeah will hit 80 on flat and this is using my phone app speedo. once theres a hill it starts to drop down quick. the car lacks power. I was thinking that shorter gears might help it. shoulda gone with a bigger motor. |

Don't expect an offroad buggy to haul ass down the highway.
Everybody seems to think that you can do mud bogs and Le Mans with the same car. Ya wanna go fast on the highway, buy a Ferrari.
In SoCal, 70 is the max speed limit on any freeway, highway or any other sort of road. Your VW will do 35 in places that other cars that pass ya on the freeway can't even go. So if it'll go 80 on the flats, what more do ya want?
Speed costs money. How fast can you afford to go? _________________ Richard

We don't do 80 often but when we do... It's in the dirt!

i did 90 downhill once. it was scary but with a stock 1600dp and stock tranny on 235/75s it cruises 70 nicely would be nice for a bit more power just so when i hit a hill i dont have to go 55 in third |

My '68 baja. Most of the hard stuff was already done when I bought it. I've run a new wiring harness and painted it. I want to put a cage, bumpers, and roof rack on it. It's never "done" I guess
