the top one looks like a 1955 and older beetle. the bottom one looks like a 1956-1959 beetle. how does he tell difference between 1955 and older beetle and 63 and older bus? _________________ Admin note: Bill Passed away - July, 2017

Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy, Bill. I recall seeing an icepick handle that has more of a hook on it than the straight piece shown in the photo above. Perhaps that's the kind I need. Next time I go over to where my bus is, I'll try to remember to bring a screwdriver and remove one of the handles for identification. There was an auction for a NOS icepick that's ending soon and I didnt want to miss out if it was the right one for my bus. From the looks of it, it's for a bug, so I'll pass. _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")

I have a set of early bus icepicks for your bus with the key. they are not 100% perfect but they are pretty damn nice.
I will be bringing them to bulli brigade for sale with my other stuff. _________________ OGJHC

I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

early oval beetle handles are usable on bus. at the moment i have a bus one on my 55 oval. there is different lock cylinders, since beetle use SG code, while bus uses the D,E,F key code.
it is needed to change or reshape also the metal hook.
there are however slight differences in the shape of center casting, these do not accept all hooks.
in the last photo there are not pre 55 handles, both are 56>
here is a pre 55

The Bus icepick handles have 2 different hooks for the no-recess and recess front doors too. |
the "bases" that screw to the door and the springs are different too. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?

Old thread alert! Will the lock interchange with a bus handle? The wafers maybe? _________________ Somewhere there is a jar with your name on it!
