well, like I said, he had the jet gauge but the smallest he had was marked 0.55 which I believe is the 55 right ? His jet gauges were all random, just like a red handle and a little bar sticking out.
He also had a 0.60, a 0.80 and a 0.95 that I could find in his toolbox drawer. The 0.55 was too big to fit in my current jets (stamped 50) but maybe the 0.55 doesn't mean it's 55 ? He said he should have some 50 for me though, but not until Friday. Where can I buy new jet gauges locally, or online ? I couldn't find it on ACN when I ordered the rotor. |

alright, not sure what I was smoking when I measured those idle jets the other day, but I pulled them back out today and even though I do not have the gauge yet, they are visibly larger than the ones stamped 60 that came out of the new carbs I bought (that were originally tuned by Aircooled.net) ! Me thinks that I tried to measure my 45 idles instead of my idles that were in the carbs on the car oops !!!! So as John said (and he was right but that doesn't surprise me lol) those "50" jets I had are in fact larger than the other "60" jets that I have sitting here ....
So what I did was (after I adjusted the valves cause it had been a couple months since I did that) drive the car for a little bit to bring it to normal operating temp, then I pulled the "50" idles (which are 65 or larger) and installed the "60" ones. I then retuned the idle, and I was able to get a "warm" idle A/F of 12.5-12.6 !!! Better than the previous 11.3 :p
Anyway, I took it for another drive (same road and same spot everytime btw just in case).
Here is what I got now:
Current jets:
idle: 60
main: 145
air: 200
F11 and 36mm venturis
floats at 10mm and fuel pressure 2.5-3.0 psi
Part throttle, steady pedal in 3rd gear:
1100: 14.2
1300: 13.3
1400: 14.8
1500: 13.8
1600: 12.1
1700: 11.8
1800: 11.3
1900: 10.6

2200: 11.0
2300: 11.2
2400: 11.9
2500: 12.4
2600: 12.6
2800: 12.4
3000: 11.8
3200: 11.5
3300: 11.3
3600: 11.6
3700: 11.8
3800: 12.1
3900 to 4200: 12.4
4300 to 4650: 11.9
4700: 12.2
4900 to 5000: 12.5
Steady 2200 RPM: 13.8
Steady 3000 RPM: 12.4
Steady 4000 RPM: 13.0
Idle "warm" (after changing jets and tuning): 12.5-12.6
Idle "hot" (after the 7 mile drive I take to do the various A/F pulls): 11.7-11.9

1st gear:
1100 to 1600: 11.6
1700: 11.9

4100: 10.3
4400: 11.0
4800: 12.1
5000: 12.6
5300: 13.0
5700: 13.1
6000: 13.4
2nd gear:
3800: 12.7
4200: 13.3
4600: 13.4
4800: 13.9
5000: 14.0
5400: 13.6
5600 to 6000: 13.3
3rd gear:
3700: 11.8
3900: 13.0
4100: 13.4
4200: 13.2
4400: 13.0
4600: 13.2

5000: 13.5
5300: 13.1
5500: 13.0
5700 to 6000: 13.2
Alright, so from all that, I think I should get a 55 idle jet, and possibly a 140 main or maybe try the 190 airs I have ? What do you guys think ? |

start with 55s and if you can afford it get some 210 airs to have handy (you may or may not need them).
My Holiday mood will prevent me from bitch slapping you for being a #()E$*#&)(*&.

Completely unrelated to anything else in this thread.
Every time I read one of your posts it makes me smarter and makes me laugh. I need some new parts and I was debating who should get my money, I think its your turn this time. DRD sucked $1400 out of my pocket last time and I loved every second of it =). One thing I have to comment though, I hate your website. I especially hate CB performance's website more and I refuse to order parts from them for having such an archaic and horrible to navigate system. Please please please pay someone to update the layout and navigation of your website. I urge you to check out something like Jake Raby is doing with his XCart setup. _________________

alright guys sorry it's been a while, I got the 55 idles in and here are the results (210s are waiting to go in)
first I was at a steady pedal, 2800 RPM and I was getting 14.6-14.7, when I hit WOT from there, I got 18.0 at 3000 RPM, followed by 10.6 at 3200 RPM, does that mean I need to adjust that little pump nut in some more ?
alright so here it goes for WOT:
3200: 10.6
3300: 12.0
3500: 11.8
3800: 12.7
4000: 13.4
4200: 13.4
4500: 13.4
4700: 14.0
4900: 14.2
5200: 13.7
5800: 13.6
5900: 13.8
A steady 2700 RPM gives me anywhere between 14.2 and 14.7
As for the 3rd gear steady pedal, the results are:
2000: 12.0
2300: 12.7
2500: 12.4
2800: 12.5
3000: 12.2
3200: 12.0
3400: 11.9
3800: 12.1
4000: 12.6
4200: 13.0
5000: 12.8
55 idles
140 mains
200 airs
F11 and 36mm venturis
floats at 10mm and fuel pressure 2.5-3.0 psi |
