YES, WE GOT IT BACK!!
First off I want to thank "ALL OF YOU" for all your emails!! Some with just great suport, and Many with really good idea's of lead's, Like checking with Shipping Co., and putting it on Craig's list was helpfull too!
Anyway, as I say, "We got The Bus Back!!""
After a number of calls, Heck even one guy that was way back east saw a very short run add for a "1970's" vw bus for sale, with New green/white paint, and NO PINK SLIP, (Because of dead mom??)
and it was in Huntington Beach, after that, I was again Hopful the bus didnt end up Cut up in a bad part of Los angeles allready.
So at 5:30 pm, I get a call from a Long Time friend and fellow VW Guy "GLENO" As we all Know him, saying "Hay, I am looking at your stolen bus as we speak!!!"
Boy, through down the tools and I was off out of the shop!!!
Only 3 miles from the shop, sitting kinda hidin behind a big freezer truck, there He was!! NOTHING MISSING!!
So we had the police come and do a C.S.I. bit for fingerprints," BELIEVE ME WERE GOING TO FIND YOU SCUMBAG!!!" and it was towed back to the "boneyard" and happy to be home!!!
So there you have it, just remember, its just great to have a Super Place like "SAMBA" Where all Good VW People can get together though the good and Bad and LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER!!
Again, thanks to all, Samba, your a great asset to the VW comunity!!
Barry

Good luck man, I really like how you split the colors.
Might want to edit and repost so it comes out clear though. _________________ "Slave to the traffic light"

What does everyone think of hidden GPS gadgets? Are they worth it? Are they pricey? Are there equal or better options? _________________ Add life to your years, instead of years to your life. |

sorry to hear about your luck! If it makes it's way up to norcal we will find it. Pretty tight knit community here. You may want to check out craigslist or some sites like that to see if any parts have been pulled. Major bummer man. I hope you find the perp. and string him up by his testes! _________________ \m/ (^_^) \m/

Yes, definitely post this to the Lost and Stolen section. It will rotate onto the front page.
Very unique. I'll keep my eyes open here at the corner of LA/Orange/Riverside counties.

Mostly a reply to keep this thread up high, no good to have bus thieves out there. I'm sorry dude, and I hope when you get her back she is in the same condition as when she was taken. We can even hope that the thieves wanted to wax her so they could ride in a clean stolen car. _________________ "Today was good.

Really sorry man. That's a shame. I'll keep an eye out here in the Phoenix area. We're another VW mecca. Put your info on the Lowlife website. Craig's in Phoenix. And contact Chirco in Tucson right away. You could e-mail your pics and info for them to print and display. There's a real big show there this weekend with a lot of people that need to know about your loss. You might consider a quick mailing of a flyer to VW shops around So Cal, central and north Cal, AZ and Vegas. They always have bulletin boards.
Since your unusual paint is the distinctive identifier, it might also be a problem. Any A-hole thief with any brains would immediatly throw some paint or primer over the front so that it doesn't look like yours.
Hope you get it back and all is well with it.
P.S. You might do a search for all the club listings and send them all a flyer. Between the shops, shows and clubs, that will cover a massive amount of people. You gotta' do it quick. _________________ 71 Superbug

I posted the link in the IAC forum. There was a bus stolen a couple years ago in Berkeley. The owner got his story covered in a local newspaper. He was searching industrial areas when someone called with a tip to go to People's Park. The bus was parked there with the crack addict thief sitting inside, warming his buns on the heated front seat. The police were called, the arrest was made without incident, and the young man got his bus back with only a little damage. Best of luck to you.
Anyone remember who that was? _________________ `
