I can't seem to find anything on this problem.
I just put in a Subaru engine into my '89 Westy and fired it up for the first time today. As I started bleeding the system, I noticed that there is now a leak around the lever sender on the burp tank. It didn't do this with the old WBX. I tried lightly tightening it up with no change. I tried a little plumbers tape making sure no tape will get into the coolant itself, with no results. There does not seem to be any cracks around the hole for the sender. I am at a lose.
Whats the best way of fixing this? Do I need a new tank or is there any chance a new sender will solve the problem? Can i just use some rtv?
Many thanks for the help! _________________ “May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.” - Edward Abbey

I've had two of these go on me. The sensor itself cracked, pull it out, take off the O-Ring and it probably will have a radial crack.
The latest one I bought from the dealer is a slightly different design, perhaps it will last longer.

The plastic gets fragile with age and cracks.
I had one break to bits under pressure, spewing coolant.
Definitely don't try to re-use it, a new one is only about 11$ from van-cafe, it's one of those cheap-insurance items. _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,
