After a hard day at the races!

That was entering the bank at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Does this mean I am NASCAR qualified?

Was a fun day at the YU BUGGIN show. I believe there were 279 show cars, and probably about 150 or so did 3 or 4 track laps! My son was a bit sad he didn't bring the Bay Window up!

~2.5 miles away at my barn; somewhere in the 3021? zip code. Has at least 3 wasp nests and I keep forgetting to take spray with me every time I drive over.

I've created a Zeemap for 181 locations.

You should be able to go to this address: http://www.zeemaps.com/394427

If you would like to add your 181 to the map then go to the additions drop-down menu and select "Add Marker- Detailed.

Under the Location Tab
Under "Name" enter the model year followed by the words "VW Thing" or "VW 181". After that you can enter a vehicle name

Enter your city, state, and country information. Don't enter your exact address info unless you feel comfortable doing that.

Select a marker color of your choice. I've selected my main body color.

Under the Details Tab
Use the "Description" box to enter information about your 181 that you would like to share. List accessories, former military service, engine info.

You can enter a e-mail, phone number, or website at your option

Under the Media Tab
You can upload or add a URL to picture or a YouTube of your car. Again, this is optional. Please post a picture at least.

Hit the Submit button and you're done

Let's see how this all works.

BTW,... I believe markers are limited to 200. So, markers that don't have at least some basic descriptive information (Year, color, ect) about their 181 will most likely be deleted. A name is simply not enough.

Markers are for vehicles locations, nor for buy or selling of parts.

Hey that's neat Semper.

I seem to have added mine thrice due to my wonderfully outstanding computer skills!

Please delete two of Buddy's 74's, or you can send me two so I can match the map. Whichever is easiest Very Happy

Did a little clean-up.

I like the format of

Name Field
[Your online or real name]'s + [Year] +[VW Thing or 181]+[Vehicle Name if you have one]

Description Field
Put all the descriptive stuff in the description box

Media Fields (Optional)
Don't forget to to use the media section to post a picture or video of you 181,

OH, so that makes it offical, there are only 28 VW 181s in the World as of this minute. So post up!

Link is now in my Signature block

Interesting 181 turned up. Our first International Marker from Spain.

Interesting rear tire carrier.

I'm a bit unclear how the poster setup his marker. I can't see or edit anything, just delete only and I'm defintely NOT going to do that. Nice 181!

Hi All,

First post, please be gentle Wink

I've run an ex German military 181 in southern Spain for something like 14 years, I've only ever run stockish 1600 T.P engines but we get some high temperatures here, many years ago I fabricated these scoops, a single piece of folded welded steel with a wired leading edge.
Only in extreme circumstances like a long climb in summer do I ease off a bit, but generally my oil temp (VDO dip stick) stays OK, much better than previously without them.
They are glued/riveted so not to everyones taste but I don't mind, it's nothing irreversible with a bit of work.
Not the best picture to show the vents, (prepared for a trip round Morocco hence two spares, shovel & jack), it's all I have in Photobucket at the mo, I'll take some better pics if anyones interested.

Asume looking 181 CLXXXI! Don't know how I missed your first post. Welcome to the Forum. I spent some time in Rota and Cadiz back in the late 70s. Spent some time in the Med as well but never saw anything except through the lens of a periscope

Hi, that's a very nice 181, congrats!!! I'm interested to see more picts. I'd like to build a tire carrier like the one you have. It would be nice if you coud share some picts of how it's mounted and how it works. Thanks for the pic. Greetings from Córdba, Veracruz-México
