It is about time to take my top off for the spring (completely off the car, not just fold it down). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about storing it and how to fold it up with out scratching the back window.

Yeah....I wouldn't remove it just yet. Thunderstorm season is coming your way (with all that big hail....) oh. maybe you should remove it now.
BTW. your pix of Palo Duro Canyon. I loved to splash the kids playing in the water there in the summer with my van. I used to live in Timbercreek canyon for a few years.

Carman,
When you are ready, I have found the best way to store it is laid out flat. I put my top, frame and all under my bed from April thru November. |

Your right It went from 70 degrees to 32 really fast. I think I'm going to keep it on for a while longer. And I love it out there at Palo Duro Canyon. Just about everytime I'm out there in the Thing someone has a story about a Thing that either they owned or there best friend owned. It's fun to listen. _________________ Price does not include PayPal fees. Text is the fastest way to reach me |

I only have a hard top on my '73.
4 cheap camo compression straps. 4 eye hooks in the beam of the garage.
Hook it to the corners of the Yakima rack. Take out the bolts, hoist up and out of the way.
All in all it's about a 15-20 minute job, if that. _________________ '85 Vanagon Westfalia |

I'm talking about the soft top. I had a hard top at one time, but It just didn't fit right. The holes in the back didn't line up and it didn't line up with the window either. But thanks anyways _________________ Price does not include PayPal fees. Text is the fastest way to reach me |
