Well, it was not even close, but, We did roll the 1991 Westy to the hospital in a rather hurried fashion on Election Day.......Also, the day we were closing on our new home.........and all went well!
Oh, BTW.....Camille Leigh Ann Carter was born at 1727 hours yesterday. My 2nd! If you say it real fast, Leigh is pronounced lee, it sums up Election Day, but, Election Day was pretty cool too~! No politics on the Samba
Peace all...Nappy time, then 3 more hospital days with the new girl!
As a side note, breaks from the hospital room have never been more relaxing than sitting in a Westy making coffee knowing your beautiful family is resting peacefully upstairs! Now I know why you always see the large elephant motor homes in Hospital parking lots.
Shameless ploy to get you all to read my post....I know, I know......but, Made You Look _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror!

Congrats to you Carterzest.
No politics on the Samba cause it always starts a fight, and for some this is a small retreat from all things not VW.
Will you be bringing her home in the Westy? |

Congratulations Jeffery! Camille is my favorite aunts name. Good luck with two. It is hard at this stage but later on it actually is easier with two, at least most of the time.

Congrats Carterzest!
I know exactly what you mean about the comfort of the Westy on that day. After my daughter was born I drove to the top of the parking garage, popped the top, popped a few "tops", and made my calls to family and friends after a VERY long and exciting day. And, yes, she came home in the westy. I don't know if I've ever driven it that slow.

When we brought my son home from the hospital, it was only about a 2 mile drive but it was the most nerve wracking drive of my life! I couldn't believe they actually let me take him home! _________________ 89 Syncro Westy - GW 2.5, now with a double knob job

Congratulations! Sounds like everything went well and you have a healthy new member of the family. Bringing a baby home in a Westy is a different feeling than sandwiching a carseat in the back seat. .
Both of our sons were born prematurely. A Westy can be an extremely practical choice when a newborn is in the NICU for a week or so. We did not agree with some of the staff choices and wouldn't leave the hospital. Taking turns sleeping in the Westy felt as good as going home. Of course, they were driven home in a Westy too. _________________ ‘85 ej22

Keep your van in good working condition and you will be able to send her off to college in it in only 18 years. |

I certainly will not leave my picture alone at work. My current avatar was my friend photoshopping me on my son and vice versa.....That was the first time I had held my son as I had a severely broken left leg and was on crutches and through 7 surgeries in a year and 3 months. thanks! _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |
