The short version of a long story is I picked up an early bug with a fresh 1600dp that is based on a "D" case (40hp?!) It runs well etc so I'm not terribly concerned anout the early case and I can always fix it if it breaks.

It has a 30 / 31 carb on an adapter to fit the dual port manifold and has an 009 with a pertronix module. I'm after best MPG / drivability and am thinking I'll be better off with a stock distributor. What's the best distributor for the 30 / 31 carb?

The H30/31 was never stock, so there is no "stock" distributor.

You can use a 205M or 205T which are vacuum only. A 019 which is mechanical ir Aircooled.net sells a vacuum/mechanical that works with that carb.

Glen,
205M , 205T am I thinking 1965 - 1970-ish distributors?

It actually runs OK with the 009 but I'd like to tweak for optimum MPG.

DrDarby-

I also recently purchased a vehicle with an H30/31. It came with the stock DVDA but I found a 205T in my stash of parts so I'm going to try it out and see what happens.

I ran a 1600DP with a Solex H30/31PICT for 4 months while I was between engines and swapped out the OO9 for a 034 and a 019 and found the 019 ran best.

The 205T will work fine for that application. Has anice advance to it as well. The 091 is straight out mechanical which is fine also.

Hiya Darby,

Not a stock suggestion here, but...............

John out at aircooled.net is selling an SVDA that is responsive to the vacuum signal from a 30/31. He claims (and I'm a believer - I run his SVDAs although not with a 30/31) that the engine will run cooler and get better mileage.

In any event, you might want to check it out at....

I have run both a 205M and an 010, with my H30/31 and both ran excellent.
