|

Does anybody know how to ID an SWF turn signal switch that doesn't appear to have a VW part number on it?
It has some numbers that seem to be SWF part numbers. Underneath the metal top plate is a sticker with the numbers 296 597. On the black plastic above the beam selector contacts are the numbers 296 458.
It has nine wires in one of the hard black plastic harnesses that hold the wires side by side.
It appears to be NOS but I don't have a box for it. I got it with a bunch of parts that are mostly but not all type3. I'd like to sell it but don't want to misrepresent it.
Thanks,

Stoner A is cylinders #2/4 B is #1/3 The plugged bowl is the throttle, the bong is the manifold |

From the wiring diagrams here...
'67 - 9 wires (but I don't think they used the plastic wire guide)
'68-'70 - 11 wires (14 for non-USA)
'71 - 11 wires
'72 - 15 wires (including the wiper stalk)
'73 - can't read those damn circuit diagrams!
So I don't know about 9. What are the wire colors? Maybe it's not for a T3? |

I'm no expert but I'm guessing the spike during cold running has everything to do with the roofing tar(20-50) in the crankcase. |

I am going from the diagrams, and SOME of the wires they show there may not pass through the plastic guide.
A photo might help us, please. |

There is that stupid horn wire........ the newer 69 one I got was 11 wire, but I had to cut a couple off as they were not needed. _________________ 68 Bug totaled one day will live again
