I've been trying to find a picture of an early bus this color, to no avail. I did find a picture of a split-window bug in that color.

Does anyone have pix of a commercial bus in L21 pearl grey (gray)?

It is listed as a 58-61 Standard color also, but I don't think anyone has ever seen one other than the postcards, have they?

Not sure if this is L21 or L28? or L22? Not a commercial but it sure looks good.

That's why I'm researching it - just about every mid-50's commercial I've seen was dove blue.

Could this be pearl grey? I stumbled upon this pic awhile back, can't remember where now. I saved it because it is exactly what I would like to build someday. Beautiful. I love this color on commercial vehicles.

probabaly an extremely small % considering none have been found, and there are many thousands of dove blue buses out there of the same time period.

same goes for 59-61 standards. None are out there, so how many were made? very few Im guessing.

This Bus is painted but painted to look like it's in Primer as it was originally delivered in Primer.

I don't know the specifics other than that but maybe someone else can chime in.

What would be the correct color for the bumper ribs on a pearl grey bus? Pearl grey or white?

Were the buses available in the same colors as Beetles, or were they limited to certain shades?

Are those bumpers original paint? ^^^^ If so, that would answer the question from BDwannaB from a few posts up.

Dove Blue ribs were white, correct? I wonder why they would have done a Pearl Grey bumper differently. The grey ribs look pretty good on the Barndoor, however.

I would bet they would have white inserts on grey bumpers. That's my speculation. Man, I bet it would look nice.

Can some one photoshop that single cab pic?

That bus was NEVER delivered in primer, the 23 I own was sold to fund it's purchase. "delivered in primer" just another line of crap from Hot VW's, Matt didn't want to paint it at the time for fear of scratching or dinging it, then probably got comfortable with it the way it is and left it that way. I guess little Carlos should say his BD Dlx was delivered in primer as well as he's been driving it around in primer since Charlie got the metal work done, long before Matt's ever hit the road.
