I meant how many of the panels missing from the car would have to be hand fabricated by the Grundmann crew. Seems to be a lot missing in every pic I have seen.... _________________ John Henry

Hi christian,
great work and good progress again.
You could also say that this car is back home .
Altough it is not in Berlin , it is home with the "others from the same gang".

It is like Grandpa (grossvater).... coming to stay with the grandchildren (enkelkinder) at the Rometsch Spa.
Maybe you guys should change the name from Hessich Oldendorf... to Bad Rometsch! (spa Rometsch)

Christian,
I would love to come to H.O. again. Sorry I have not signed up yet. Is there still room!!
Last time I was there I met Herr Beeskow and his wife.... and Hans Oberlander. I gave Herr Beeskow one of the t-shirts that Rich Kimball made... with my Beeskow on it. Kind of a stupid gift for such a formal man I think now. He looked at it and then at me... and his expression said... "why are you giving me this unterwatche?" (underwear) I don't speak much German... so I had difficulty in talking with him... but I did very much enjoy learning about him from his drawings. I have researched his life and now know so much more about him... Joseph Neuss, Erdmann and Rossi etc.
Herr Oberlander was a funny dramatic guy... full of life... madly in love with his violet and aluminum Beeskow. I think he must have been a film star or something. Did Oberlander order that car new in those Colors? Will AutoStadt be restoring to those colors!
It is good to have met these men... from a different era.
So you and your museum are going to have to tell the whole story... not just of Herr Rometsch... but of Beeskow... and his history... and of the people who bought these cars... the crazy Rometsch buyers like Hans. I am trying to track down the Dealer in Southern California... Hollywood Sports Cars. He is still alive.... as is the original owner of my car.
any Zimmer's left in Bad Rometsch? PM me who to email.

This is the rare coup that Lenny owned? Never would have thought he would have sold it. I believe it is the only surviving coupe known to exist, is that correct?
Well it looks like it is in good hands and you guys are really taking her down....that's impressive!
Please update the restoration, I'd be interested to see your progress. _________________ '62 golfblau Typ 311 Limousine

So far as I know you are correct Dave... there is only one split windshield coupe... but there are at least three surviving curved windshield coupes... two in the US and one with the Grundmanns. |

Hi Eric,
and the 1955 coupe we have was once owned by the actor Gregory Peck.
He got the car 1955 in black with red interior.
