|

Gerson has informed me he would be happy to reproduce these now high priced and hard to find parts.
But in order to do so he needs to get hold of an original example mechanism / seat.
Can anyone help

i heard sled had one but doesnt want to loan it out. Mainly because that will ruin the market and lower its value and he wont be able sell it one day big $$$ |

yes, they are different than a walkthrough seat. There are early and late seats as well. Like mentioned, check out Aarons gallery. He likes those swiveling vanagon seats...
who said anything about me having one? _________________ drive your split. |

It sounds like these seats (early) are worth a lot of money. What would be the value of these seats if you had one and wanted to sell it? I know that Splitpile was looking for one for a long time. I know that everyone would like to buy one for $5.00 but I am talking about real money. Just a guess? Flip back and stationary |

A seat that swivels around sounds pretty dangerous.

$1000-$1500 in good condition. I expect that a repro would be worth 1/2 to 2/3 of that. I would buy a couple repros if they were available. both of my originals are upholstered, or I would offer them up to Gerson. _________________ .

I talked to Gerson today about that and he is willing to do it but BASES ONLY, you can make the rest from a 2/3 seat after I send him pics of the base so he can see whats entailed and get an idea of what it will take to make..
I would send him a complete base to copy, BUT everyone who wanted one would have to pay a deposit (to be determined) of at least half and would need at least 5 to 10 PAID COMMITMENTS to make it worth his time. There's always the I'll take them talk, but it's the willing to $tep up to make it happen _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Did you make the whole thing last time or just the base? _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I "tried" to make a base, a way involved complex piece and gave up. I have a couple solid back seats with-out bases and they (the seat) appears to be the same as a 2/3 seat, except narrower. I also have a couple bay swivels I was going to modify to work, but again "way to much work"
pivot and slide controls
rollers and their mounts
1 nut holds the whole seat together
seat base slide channels
also you can see part of the base plate that welds to the seat base
Notice how the seat cover tucks into a slot on the seat frame _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"
