Anyone ever put in snap-in window scrapers? I have some directions that came with them, but it looks like a job that would benefit from experience. And I don't really want to have to buy new ones if I ruin them _________________ Steve

I just got the end play set on my single port, and found an exhaust stud that was pulled. The heads need freshened up anyway, so I planned to put the set of new dual port heads on it. The case still has the stock 10mm studs, but half of them are screwing out instead of the nuts coming off. I don't plan to split the case to have case savers put in. Is there anything (epoxy, rtv, etc.) that I can use on the studs to prevent them from pulling? They are all tight now, I just don't want to pull a stud down the road. _________________ Steve

Make sure the threads are nice and clean. Nuts should spin on with fingers. Locktite in case. You will need to change out top two center studs for shorter ones. If you want to test them, after heads are torqued down, retorque to 45 lbs and then back off and torque to regular spec. If they don't strip at 45, they should hold ok. Be sure to back the torque off and torque to the reg spec though. |

Got the old heads off my 1500, checked the deck height and it is .035" everywhere I've read says .040" is the tightest you should run. I don't really trust the copper cylinder shims. Using CB Performance's calculator I'm looking at 7.9:1 CR. Should I unbolt the heads and pull the P/C and put the spacers under there or run it as is? _________________ Steve

Well, I feel like an idiot....disregard my previous post. I didn't think about the cylinder rocking in it's bore causing one side to be higher than the other....checked again right in the center of the piston and whadda ya know, just over forty thousandths deck height...Right where I wanted it to be _________________ Steve

Make sure you have the cylinder torqued down when you measure |
