Buying it together is always cheapest. The glow plug new goes for $60 on average, the combustion fan - asking $100, you never see the assist fan for sale, an uncut wiring harness - just the belly part - asking $45. It adds up if its broke out. So offering $400 plus ship on a $500 ad - if you land it makes sense |
Yes, $400 is pretty good for a fully functional setup - if, as you say, you can land it. But the shipping is what deters me most. Shipping that size and weight even via Greyhound is likely going to run near to another $100, maybe more for coast to coast. By way of comparison, I had a front door (probably comparable size and weight) shipped from Nevada that cost $75 via Greyhound. Any other shipper was substantially higher. Insurance paid for that though. Were I within a few hundred miles, I'd probably make a road trip of it, maybe camp along the way.
Maybe I just have more crap to do that's of a higher priority. *sigh*
As far as a tech session goes, set the date and time and I'll try to work around it. I've a lot going on those weekends (camping, anniversary, Rose City Bug-In, Sounders matches, etc.), but can probably shuffle some of the more flexible things if I know sufficiently in advance. _________________ Andrew

We just need to set up a road trip to Vancouver BC - hit up some junk yards like you did - get our Eberspacher goodness - swing by busdaddy and harass him then return home with our plunders
Ill set a time soon! _________________

That would actually be great! I think it's become like here though...not a Bay to be found in a junk yard anywhere.
I track a few junkyards online constantly monitoring for Bays. Not a thing within a weekender type trip.
EDIT: Actually, this might be a marathon road trip worth taking for gas heaters:

We could hit a ton of yards along the way. |
Whole shit balls batman! Never crossed my mind to hit up interstate!!!###!!
I bet they have tons. Literally. _________________

Now that I think about it - last time I spoke to Jim in early 2011 he told me they were all in storage - still. When I was out there in SoCal - San Diego last I got a BN4 from a 74 Orange Westfalia. That ads been up since 2013 so I guess they are out

GZE13 - its on the side of your plug. Thats the correct one for the BA6 that needs two male lugs on top - one for glow plug power and the other for ground. Be careful of the GZE16 - thats for the BN4 and does not have a ground.
You can use the BA6 for a BN4 but you cant use a BN4 for a BA6! And as seen below the pn and box for a BA4 that also is the same - GZE13 as for the BA6

With the BA6 going well now - I have one last detail to figure out. The light on the switch. There are the two male tabs on the back - one for ground and one with power coming off what wire? It cant be constant or even ignition driven. It needs to be off the plug in the back of the switch that still has power during cool down. That way when cooled will turn the light off.
So which one? _________________

According to this K11 is grounded and the live end connects to 58b (green/red), the only thing I can't find is E19 (where the green/red goes to), I can't see it on the heater diagram, maybe it's on the bus schematic? E components seem to be switches like flame, temp, overheat etc... The flame switch would do what you propose but the diagram says it goes elsewhere.

I think there may be a spot on the circuit breaker - where the red green wires connect - that's empty.
Ill have a look today. I was also going to see what wires colors were on the combustion fan - as the power directed to it is regulated by the system cool down - blue/red wires? _________________

So just to clarify something from your video, if there is no continuity in the plug, it's garbage even if the glow function works? Before I drop money on a new plug, I want to make sure this one is bad.

Yes - no continuity then it wont spark. The fast moving side of the points on the fan opens the circuit grounding the power at the tip with the wire you see on the plug. _________________

Ba6 installed!!
Need to strap in the fan, fuel pump, and the coil, run a intake hose for the trigger fan, and run a 3"/2" coupler to the rear seat intake tube I'm gonna use for my recirculated air intake. Next I'll need to bolt it in, and fix a couple tubes for routing air....then just tee into the gas line and it'll actually be ready to go and drive with it |
