As the subject line states, what year did VW start putting the stamped plate on that gets rivited to the left defroster opening at the top of the dash?

Are you positive? I ask because my '68 has never had one (no hole) and I've never owned a 69 or 70. I'm looking at a '70 for a donor car and it needs to have one. Thanks

You are correct I just found it in the archives in the "what year is it" folder. Dash mounted vin plate added Jan 01, 1969.
