Why do the 71 supers seem to have most favour? I'd assume they were the least 'improved' of the lot since it was the first year of them. |

The poll shows '73 Supers are in the lead, though.
And I'd suppose it was because it was something new... |
No but I mean why today are they particularly sought after or favoured. |

It's not that I sought out a super or a particular year, this car found me. I waited a long time before having my dream realized. It's very rewarding how well it responds to each bit of TLC.

I know EXACTLY what you mean.... I put an add on CL just looking for a beetle and this old guy called me and said he'd sell me his... was in his garage for 5 yrs without running a day.... i drove it almost home before i ran out of gas (gastank filler tube had no form of seal - fixed now) but i've loved it like a drug....
heres my build thread...

73 super is the best super to have, no questions asked.
it has the large windshield and dash but keeps the smooth design of the small bumpers fender holes _________________ 74 1303 |

All stock 1971. 500 bucks! Just finished rebuilding the engine. It has fresh interior(dash, seats, carpet, seatbelts, Door panels) And not a spot of rust on the pan or body. Straight as a pin! Whoever owned it before me took great care if it. I have everyting to set up front disks but bearings so that is next on my list.
Justa running walk around

Had a '71 SB back in 1986, it got rear-ended and the insurance company wouldn't pay to fix it (they cut me a $1200 check and took the car, the car was in pristine shape too--hopefully she didn't rust in a field). Miss that car.
Just got a '68 a few days ago. Granted, I won't have to deal with the strut issues, but I still like the '71 and '71 Supers a lot. |

I have a 74 now but as a kid I had 2 other super beetles but I can't remember the years. Too many years ago. I'm getting old. I never drove a standard bug. How are they different in driving? |

'72 Super flat dash. Built in March of '72. LOVE it, but wish it had a '71 steering wheel. _________________ 1972 VW Super Beetle

71, not OG and butchered by the PO in his idea of a restore. Overpaid on it but learned a lesson.
I've been sprucing it up and it is coming along nicely. |
