Search EZ, Sundial, Riviera style tent. They are 1/2" conduit with a couple brazed stubs on one of the pieces. the rest are mostly conduit connectors or brazed nuts with wing-nuts. The canopy is like a surrey with fringe or serrated flaps. The side curtains hang in various ways one being shower curtain hooks. |

So what type of camper is the green one, sundial or an SO something or other??
And does the awning look similar the ones shown? |
I'd need interior pics to identify it. It's definitely a non-westy. _________________ http://www.sundial-camper.com |

I had a 64 Panel that had those brackets and the tent. I believe it was a sundial tent. No pics though. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

I had those mounts on my '59 swivelseat kombi.
I thought they were Sundial-style, but not sure, as no tent came with the bus.
Went to look at some parts, and the guy had a Sundial tent for sale.
Not having the bus with me at the time, I asked him if I could partially assemble the frame and measure to see if it would match the bus.
The frame on the bus side assembles to make a bar with two arms about 6" long to hold the tent away from the roof mounts. I measured 70 inches between the mount arms.
I called home and asked my wife to measure the distance between the mounts. After she said "you want me to do WHAT?", I finally got the distance, and she said "70 inches". Well, at that point, I kinda had to buy the tent, which I did. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

This is the style of tent. It attaches to the roof brackets via flat pieces on the mounting rod. The flat pieces have a hole in them. The bolt through the brackets secure the tent pole to the bus. I'll look for pictures and post them |

We'll see this afternoon....
Thanks for the pic Daddybus. That's exactly what I needed to see. There is a bunch of junk in the bus and if the dude FINALLY let's it go, I don't want to leave the poles if they are there. _________________ My '66 RHD Japanese bug build..which has stalled!

The above pic was taken of my bus about 12 years ago. The poles and the way it attaches to the bus (other than the roof mounts) are not original. I just used the 1/2" conduit and a simple way to attach the awning to the brackets using brass clips....... to try and make it look old. |

Mine doesn't use the clips either, but I don't have any pics of it handy. _________________ http://www.sundial-camper.com |

Those mounting tabs look alot shorter than mine.
How long are yours?
I guess I have tab envy.
Seriously, I'd like to know.
Otherwise, the frame looks exactly like mine. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

Actually the pic above with my red/white SO34 is a Riviera tent made by the Beckel Manufacturing company for the Riviera. It mounts with the aluminum strip on the bus. The frame is much stronger and all together different from the Sun Dial / EZ camper tent. The material is heavy backed waterproof canvas on my tent. The Sundial tents were light cotton duck with the thin tube frame pictured above.....but look the same set up. They both had fringe and used shower curtain hooks on the sides . The Riv frame has three spring loaded poles that form the roof , clip in the drip rail and is super strong. The Sundial and Ez campers used 2 of the small 2 screw mounts shown above on the thin tube frame. Now Beckel may have made both tents but I doubt it. Some EZ campers may have been equipped with the heavy tent also or the Riv tent has made its way onto a couple EZs at a later date........if you have the holes for the aluminum strip the heavy Riv [Beckel] tent is what works on your bus. If you have 4 small screw holes or the small mounts are still there then the lighter canvas sundial tent is right. The above pic of my SO34 shows the tent mounted incorrectly tied to the original westy tent mounts on my bus leading to this confusion......I would say a nice original tent increases the value of a nice camper at least 2000 dollars.....buy my product _________________ Tom
