With one year only doors, I'd try to fix them. Have you looked up the production numbers on a '67 vert yet? That's a pretty rare car you got there. |

Thanks chickengeorge..yea I thought about fixing the doors..I still may since it looks like some people are charging an arm and a nut for each 67' door. Yea I looked at the production#'s actually and if I remember correctly it was like 7597 verts produced in '67 for the US? _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

It's low, and I know it jumps to twice as many cars for '68. |

Sweet ride, got yourself one helluva project on your hands.
Wish I could find a vert to work on... Granted, I'd have to finish my 65 first. |

Thanks freednighthawk..I paid $800 for it so I thought it was worth it and I've done all this frame and body restoration work on my '70 vert about 8-10yrs ago so its not new to me. It will take some time and work to complete. My plans are to drop the front and rear and put the older style front fenders with glass lenses on it. I am not a VW purist so I don't care about it looking like a complete original or anything. _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

It looks like your choppin it up to be a volksrod.
If you didn't have to hide it from the wife then you would have gotten a lot more done in the last year. _________________ 66 Bug Vert

Thanks rebirth, looks like you got quite the collection yourself. Let me know if you have a thread too of your build. Con your definitely right about that buddy.. It woulda been nice to have this car over my house sooner.Anyway..here's the latest on the front clip work I've been doing.
This spot weld cutter works pretty good:
I still need to trim it up a bit and get the new bottom piece fitted.
The front apron is overall ok but there is a small section in the bottom that I may cut out and weld in new metal. _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Nice job rob. I was looking at my 67 today, and I am going to have to replace the exact same piece. Where did you get it from? _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Thanks Sean, I'll be following your thread on your '67. Got it at Mid-America for $20. Its part#301-213. The fit is decent, it beats piecing and patching the old one up.
