On the rear bulkhead of the Single Cab in the background - are those reflections from the indentations, or are there slots cut in the bulkhead?

Seems strange that reflections would show up that deep in to the treasure chest area? I can't see a light source. It's pretty dark in there and it looks like the bed has been installed in those photos.

It looks like a reflection from a light source coming from the right of the picture.against the pressings in the divider panels.

What I see weird and maybe not ever discussed before...the front beams laying on the floor are complete assemblies. I don't see the two arms that bolt to the bottom of the frame rail. They would be clear as day day sticking out right behind his leg.

Does that mean they were welded on once the beam was installed?

I do realize that a NOS beam has them on there but that may mean that's just the way it came as an over the counter post production part.

I have a question for everyone. While sitting on the throne glancing at the book VW BUS, Camper. Bus. Van. Pick-up. Wagon by Malcolm Bobbit. On page 33 it shows a barndoor single cab in a paint booth. The caption next to the photo states the scene is at the Hannover factory but note this is an early example as denoted by the shape of the roofline. Did some of the last bds produced in Feb 55 go to Hannover for assembly and or paint??

I think it may be the flash from when the photo was taken. Here is a photo I found in the Gallery that although the angle is different, note how the vertical pressings are highlighted on the middle left side of the firewall. Just a hunch though because perhaps more should be lit up in the t-chest if that were the case.

That's kind of what I thought, although the photo was probably posed and they may have used several light sources. I'd have expected more of the treasure chest to be visible if light was bouncing off the rear bulkhead, if it was only lit from the front though.

Don't think I put this in here. Strictly speaking it's a pic of oval window bugs, but there are some barndoors in the background.
