changing a 40 horse from 6v to 12v

ok i know i have the change the generator and stand and coil
but do i change the flywheel too?

They make a 12v starter with a 6v gear.

Who makes them? I didn't know they existed. You can also have a 6v starter rewound for 12v. I imagine labor would be expensive though, there's a lot of winding to do there and it looks like a PITA.

I carry them in stock.It's a 12volt starter with a 6volt drive gear.You'll have to change to a 12volt starter bushing as well.

so i cant just put a 12v flywheel on the motor?

and how much for that starter?

Can't you use a porsche generator? I think they are the same size as a 6 volt VW?
