I've restored this bus 5 years ago.
It was realy nice till now!
A SMART drove into the left rear side of the bus, turned around and hit the door, dogleg and frontbumper.
A luck he haves a good insurance and a good friend! Laughing
A luck you can still find NOS parts.
Take a look!

Looks good. How did you weld up high on the vertical forward seam on that? (Not the horizontal butt weld.) This area is hard to get to anyway and you are working on a walkthur so have to get around the tire holder.

Nos is sooooo nice. Are there a lot of these items still on earth? Yeah, how did you weld the upper part by the vents? From what little I know about it it's a good job.

You can see that he seemed it a couple inches below the beltline. That is why there is solid filler there to smooth out the weld.

The vertical part is glued with 3M glue for metalparts.

thanks for the info. I thought maybe you had a special set of jaws for a spotwelder, or a really good trick for me. I have opened a "window" in the inner skin before to access upper most part of this area, it works but is a 1 step back, 2 steps forward kind of deal. I just pre-drilled the flange on the donor corner and plug welded bind, by feel, most of the way up.
Anyway, thanks for the info....

Ya, I gotcha.
The 3M panel adhesive is good stuff but I would at least want a nice plug weld at the top and bottom of that flange. I think your idea of cutting a window for accessing the very top for a plug weld, plug weld at the bottom, combined with the panel adhesive the rest of the way down may be a good option.

I used aircraft bolts in mine in each spot-weld hole. It took two guys to tighten them and start them; a major nightmare. I love the NOS stuff.

It had some plug welds at the bottom near the splashpannel.
Is back in primer now.
Tomorrow painting inside.

passoa55,
Wow very impressive. I did a search but I can't figure out which one you used. Can you get me the product number? I will use my MIG on my project but there are some areas I would like to try that stuff out on.
Thanks a ton,
Linda

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon.
