hi all-
I'm looking at alternative cooking options as neither me or the girlfriend like waiting around for food...

I found a 12v 600w small microwave, by powerhunt, and was wondering if anyone has used one? its not too expensive (~$300, ebay), and doesn't need an inverter!
thanks for any info

my experiance with small microwaves is that a 600w unit will take 2.5x's longer than a 1200w unit to heat the same item.

have to ask what you are expecting to heat/eat and how much you don't like waiting around.

My brother installed a 600w micro & a propane oven in his camper.. we use the oven more often https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/888020.jpg

in my van we tend to precook/prepare the majority before we leave home.. then it's fast easy and less cleanup while @ camp.

Edit because some people get curious
it's a GE "MIKE" microwave he found in a consignment shop for $25.
there's not much info on them but are in 220v european areas.

I hear the hot dogs at 7-11 are quite tasty - you never need to wait around for those.

We found spending time in a smaller area is going to require some sacrifice, pre-planning amid some personal sacrifices for the times we're in the van on the go/camping.

Perhaps there are other things you could cook, methods of cooking using a
smaller, easier, less involved method?

Good luck!

I also use the half pint and love it. Keep your eyes open on amazon and ebay. I got one new on amazon a couple of months ago for $160 new.
