|
|
Replacing the trim clips on my '69, (see my ads if'n you have some to donate) just curious, did the trim clips change at all from year to year? I thought someone said the trim changed for the later years, but I couldn't find that info anywhere. I searched "deluxe trim" and read several of those, but never found my exact answer.
Sankoo, sankoo very much. _________________ '73 Transporter - Driver

All the same clips, 68-72. I haven't seen the clips that come with the repro sets though, they could be different. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

the trim itself changed between 68 and 70 (not sure just when), but just the front door spears forward of the side view mirrors. 68s are rounded, and 71s are pointed. |

Must be really late 71s', all mine had the slash tip. 72s' have the pointy trim, probably to reduce the parts count as they fit left or right. Everything from the mirrors back looks the same though. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

regardless of junky clips, you should consider that OG clips with new moulding might not work as well.
the new moulding does not have the same profile as the OG. once i saw the new moulding, i decided i would never give up my OG moulding. the OG is taller and squarer, and has that nice patina. beltline moulding is supposed to look like deluxe window moulding, brite dip aluminum. stainless cant imitate that.
just doing my part to keep the O in OG. |

WITH AL THAT BULLSHIT SAID, ive used the new clips on the corners and on the long pieces and they worked fine as long as the orientation is correct and they are back where they belong. they do work but dont withstand popping on and off. _________________ once you realize im not impressed we will get along just fine |
