^Perfect. Was it the original sunroof cover? All original paint? Any more pictures?
I have uploaded the picture to The Samba's Gallery so we don't lose the link.

Here's an Aussie one that was on Ebay a while back. Euro bumpers, semaphores. Unusual red (with black piping) door panels and seats. Usually you see grey or beige. The red interior may be an Aussie only thing?

Coral Red was used on Ovals from April 1956 to July 1957 (16 months) and 1958 model big windows (August 1957 to July 1958).

The top was a TMI replacement. It was the OG paint. It was white when I got it. I wet sanded it back to the OG Coral.

Blimey, another sweet one. Clean, straight, original looking

Is it original paint?
Background story?
Do you have any interior pics?

Thanks! Probably about 80% original paint. Had to do some blending and some repaint on a few removables.

This one pretty much followed me home one day while driving home from work in another 57 I had...or at least the previous owner did. He was another VW nut and we kept in touch and became friends. I had to sell the oval I had and ended up buying this one from him. It had been off the road since the early 90's. He got it from his father, who, if I remember the timeline correctly, got it from Billy May, a big-band trumpet player and composer, who was a friend of the family. (I'm sure I'm butchering the story a bit, but I think that's the jist of it.)

I don't have any good current interior photos other than the dash at the moment, but it's not too much to look at...missing headliner, torn seats, etc. But It's all original paint in the interior and came with the original door panels and floor mats. Really dry car. Here's a photo of what it looked like when I first got it. I had to peal away the primer and a previous, faded yellow respray:

^these boys are showing the way! Great stuff

Anyone like to guess how many Coral Red ovals were at Bad Camberg 2015 at the weekend?
With ovals probably being the most common VW there?

Correct wheel colours. Correct fade out running boards. Colour coded sunroof.
How many accessories can you count? I think I get 26 or 27 (not including the seat throws or sunroof)

Update: Cheeky hot motor in there too
